Matthew 9:35-38

The Harvest Is Plentiful, the Laborers Few

35 And Jesus went throughout all the cities and villages, teaching in their synagogues and proclaiming the gospel of the kingdom and healing every disease and every affliction. 36 When he saw the crowds, he had compassion for them, because they were harassed and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd. 37 Then he said to his disciples, “The harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few; 38 therefore pray earnestly to the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into his harvest.”

HeART for Ukraine: Thanks for all the Ukraine art so far! It’s not too late to turn yours in to Erin or Mary Nell. Watch for details…

Voice of the Martyrs 500,000 Bible Challenge: We raised $3,664 to purchase 611 Bibles. By getting it in before the end of the month, this figure was matched for a total of $7,328 to buy 1221 Bibles! Thanks to all who contributed and to Kevin Sorensen for coordinating this outreach.  Pray the Bibles will have a powerful impact on those who receive them!

Faith Promise: In addition to missions giving in our church budget, we encourage our congregation - all ages - to participate in Faith Promise giving. Please pray and ask the Lord for clarity on how much and to whom you will pledge in faith to give AS THE LORD PROVIDES. Then watch and see how He provides in unexpected ways that only He can do - for His own glory! This is a faith agreement between you and the Lord - you will not be asked for the funds but turning in a faith promise helps the church and missionaries anticipate the level of support they may receive. Copies of the form are in the mission booklets on the back table as well as here.

The Shorter Catechism

Q. 31. What is effective calling?

Effective calling is the work of God’s Spirit, by which he convinces us of our sin and misery, enlightens our minds in the knowledge of Christ, and renews our wills, and so persuades and enables us to embrace Jesus Christ, freely offered to us in the gospel.

Q. 32. What benefits in this life are shared by those who are effectively called?

In this life those who are effectively called share in justification, adoption and sanctification, and the further benefits in this life which accompany or flow from them.
