A Complaint, A Prayer, And A Praise!

The Resurrection Matters
The resurrection of Jesus Christ is not just a historical fact you need to know, but it is a spiritual truth that affects everything for faith and godliness. It is the foundation of all that we believe, and it is the motivation for all that we do. Because He lives!
The Cross of the King
When asked, "What did Jesus do for you," most believers will say that "He died on the cross for my sin." And that is the correct answer, but it's only half the answer. The other half of the answer is that Jesus lived for me. Jesus died to pay the penalty for our sins, but He also lived the perfect life that I couldn't. I need righteousness and Jesus imputes that perfect life to me when I believe in Him. John 19 tells us the story of the cross.
Behold The King
The word "King" is used more in John 18 and 19 than anywhere else in the book. John wants you to understand who Jesus is. He is the true King who has come to give His life in place of ours. That just like Barabbas, we are guilty and deserve to be condemned, but the innocent is condemned in place of the guilty so that we might be given life.
Jesus, the Bread of Life!
In John 6, Jesus turns the crowd’s attention from temporary bread to the true bread from heaven. He shows that our deepest hunger is not merely physical, but spiritual—and that He alone can truly satisfy. This sermon explores Christ’s invitation to come, believe, and find life in Him.
Betrayed, Arrested & Denied
John 18 records the betrayal, arrest, and denial of Jesus Christ. He is abandoned and alone. But He goes to drink the cup that the Father has given to Him, and He goes to drink it for you and for me. Hallelujah, what a Savior!
Prayed For
It is a blessing to pray for one another. But sometimes in the midst of living life, we forget to pray. In John 17, Jesus prays for His Church. He prays for you and for me. He prays that we would know Him and that we would be a witness to His love. That the world will know!
Godly Comfort
Where do you find comfort and healing for a troubled heart? Jesus has an answer, and it might not be what you think. In John 16, Jesus points His troubled disciples to the truth of the Trinity - the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. Know God and know His peace!
Connected to Christ
In John 15, Jesus uses the picture of branches connected to a vine. It is a picture of the believer's union and communion with Jesus Christ. Sinclair Ferguson has said that our union with Christ is the central, vital reality from which every facet of the Christian life, identity, and redemptive benefit flows. John 15 tells us what happens as a result of being connected to Christ.
Gifts from Jesus
In John 14, Jesus tells His disciples that He is leaving, and for those followers it caused their hearts to be heavy and troubled. But Jesus doesn't leave them empty. He fills them with what they need to live faithfully for Him. He gives two gifts in the passage: the Holy Spirit and His peace.
The Comfort of Christ
First, that we know and trust God as the only true and living God. Second, that we avoid all idolatry and do not worship God improperly. Third, that we treat God’s name with fear and reverence, honoring also his Word and works.
Anchored in Love
Do you believe there is a limit to the love of Jesus Christ for you? Sometimes we think that. Sometimes we think deep down that Jesus could never truly love me at my worst, at my ugliest. In John 13, Jesus points us to HIs love, and He calls us as His followers to love like Him. We love only because He first loved us.
Standing Firm in a Shaky World
We live in a world where almost everything seems to be changing. So where do we find solid ground? Paul reminds us that stability isn't found in the latest ideas, but in faithfully holding to the truth that has been passed down to us.
Tangible Love
Beginning in John 13, Jesus spends some personal and intimate moments with His disciples. He wants to instruct them and encourage them because the time has come for Him to go to the cross. He wants to prepare them. And what does He do first? He washes their feet. He gives them an example and calls them to love one another, to love tangibly and intentionally.
Powered Living
Power is an essential part of life. Power for our homes. Strength for our bodies. Power tools make work easier and faster. We love to surround ourselves with powerful, important people. Jesus talks about power in John 12, and it comes only through the way of the cross.
Devoted
We've all poured ourselves into something we believed was worth it. In John 12, Mary does something that seems extravagant—even wasteful—to everyone else. But Jesus sees something entirely different: wholehearted devotion. Join us as we explore what it looks like to love Christ without holding anything back, and why a life devoted to Him is never wasted.
The Resurrection and the Life
All of us carry burdens and struggles. They can be physical, psychological, emotional. What do we most need in order to make sense of it all. Twice in John 11, Jesus points His disciples and then Martha to the glory of God. Looking at life's difficulties through God's glory changes how we carry those burdens and struggles. Jesus wants us to challenge us to understand what we believe.
The Good Shepherd
We may not think about it, but shepherding is a way of life. Beyond the farmers that shepherd flocks, parents shepherd children, coaches shepherd athletes, teachers shepherd students, pastors and elders shepherd congregations. We are all being shepherded in some way. We are all following after something. What are you following in your life? John 10 calls us to follow the Good Shepherd.
The Church Jesus Has For Us Now
Jesus challenges our expectations about the Church in the Parable of the Wheat and Tares with a dose of reality, an absolute standard, and a promise to get His people Home safely.
The Blind See!
Have you ever played a game like Marco! Polo!? Or maybe you stubbed your toe on the coffee table when the lights were out. John 9 tells us a story of Jesus healing a man born blind, using the miracle to show us that He is the Light of the world. There is a difference between physical sight and spiritual blindness. Open our eyes that we may see!
